We encourage all of our students to go through each college for the total ICFAU experience. We encourage class participation, and each student receives plenty of useful, take home information to review and implement.
New for this year is a totally renovated Fogelman Center, the location of our classrooms, dining rooms and our student rooms!

The ICFA University Experience
This July 21-26, cemetery and funeral service practitioners from throughout North America and the world will gather at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee, for a one-of-a-kind program designed by some of the best and brightest in the profession. The five-day ICFA University program offers a unique experience that blends intensive, practical classroom training with continual networking and idea-sharing.
Quality Education
With limited class sizes and on-campus housing and dining, ICFAU offers a unique learning environment. Its five colleges cover every area of management, and classes are continually updated to include the latest innovations and techniques. Courses combine proven business theory with practical operational instruction, and the professors encourage ongoing participation and interaction.
Experienced Staff
ICFA University classes are led by top industry professionals as well as business and economics faculty at the University of Memphis.

Recreation and Networking
Perhaps even more important than the academic training at ICFAU are the opportunities to network with colleagues from every area of the cemetery and funeral service profession. Students from all five colleges come together several times each day for breaks and to share meals in the Fogelman Executive Dining Room. After classes, you can relax with fellow students in the Fogelman lounge or the Holiday Inn bar, or take a short taxi ride to visit Memphis' famous Beale Street. At the Annual Sports Tournament on Sunday nightfeaturing softball, basketball or volleyball, depending on the weatheryou'll find a good-natured rivalry among students from each of the colleges.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
ICFAU is held at the University of Memphis Fogelman Executive Center, an academic facility expressly designed for executive and professional training. All classroom training and dining takes place at the Fogelman.
ICFAU offers on-campus housing at two sites: dormitory-style housing on the upper floor of the Fogelman and executive suites at the Holiday Inn University, located across the street from the Fogelman. Additional overflow housing will be available at the Doubletree Hotel Memphis, located a short drive from campus.
The Fogelman Executive Center's dorm houses 51 private sleeping rooms, each with private bath, and has a common lounge area and kitchen.
The Holiday Inn University suites include a choice of king bed or two double beds, a sleeper sofa and numerous luxury amenities. The hotel has a lounge, snack bar, gift shop and exercise room.
On-campus housing is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to register early. For additional information on housing assignments and costs, please see the information on Accommodations and the ICFAU Registration Form.
Registration Prerequisites and Procedures
Prior college attendance is not required for attendance at ICFA University. The program is open to employees of all cemeteries, funeral homes, crematories and related businesses, regardless of previous educational background.
In general, ICFA University is designed for students who are:
- Company owners and chief executive officers.
- Managers seeking to develop additional skills and knowledge in order to improve their techniques and operations.
- Managers who are interested in moving into new areas of responsibility.
- Managers new to the cemetery and funeral service profession.
- Staff interested in advancing into management positions.
- Staff interested in improving their skills to better serve their employers and their client families
- Suppliers who want to network and gain a better understanding of their customers' challenges.
Registration Procedures
Registration for ICFAU can be completed by downloading the ICFAU Registration Form. Registration must be received by June 23. Students whose registrations are received by June 23 will have their names included in the Student Directory.
Registration for each ICFAU college is limited to 35 participants and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrations received after the programs have been filled will be placed on a waiting list. If no space becomes available, those on the list will receive full refunds.
Attend for 1 Year ... 2 ... 3 ... 4 ... Or More!
ICFA University offers a four-year "undergraduate program." Students are enrolled in one school per year, spending 5 days of intensive learning in that discipline. Students can attend for just one year in the discipline of their choice or go on to attend for additional years for a more comprehensive education.
Students who complete four of the five colleges become ICFAU graduates:
- College of Cemetery Administration & Management
- College of Cremation Services
- College of Funeral Home Management
- College of Land Management & Grounds Operations
- J. Asher Neel College of Sales & Marketing
Take Advantage of Our Advanced Study Programs
ICFAU offers two advanced study programs. Students in each of these programs design their own syllabus from among all colleges.
- Master's Program-Prerequisite: Candidate must be an ICFAU graduate. A daily itinerary of your classes must accompany registration.
- CEO Program-Prerequisite: Candidate must be a CEO or company owner. A daily itinerary of your classes must accompany registration.
Room and Board
On-campus housing at the Fogelman will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, with fourth- and third-year students whose applications are received on or before May 26 being given priority. All reservations should be made through the ICFA (see form for details). Students not assigned to the Fogelman will be placed at the Holiday Inn University, located across the street.
Your room and board fees cover lodging as well as three meals a day, starting with dinner on Friday and ending with breakfast on Wednesday. Double rooms cost an additional $10 per night. Room fees should be paid directly to the ICFA. The Fogelman and the Holiday Inn will request payment of incidental expenses upon checkout.
Dress Code
The dress code at ICFAU is casual throughout the week. Be sure to bring sports clothes and gear needed for the Annual Sports Tournament Sunday night.
Prices
Fees include all meals and are as follows:
ICFA University Registration Fee: $735
Housing and Room and Board Fees:
- Fogelman housing (5 nights) and meals: $945
- Fogelman housing (6 nights) and meals: $1,045
- Holiday Inn University housing (5 nights) and meals: $1,020
- Holiday Inn University housing (6 nights) and meals: $1,135
All meals will be served at the Fogelman Executive Center and include dinner Friday through breakfast Wednesday.

Please note that the room and board fees include a 15.9 percent tax on sleeping rooms for the Fogelman and Holiday Inn as well as a 15 percent service fee and a 9.25 percent tax on all meals and food service.
Continuing Education Credits
Funeral directors may earn up to 24.5 continuing education credits at the ICFAU, pending individual state credit awards. CE Attendance Certificates will be available at the ICFA on-site registration desk.
Cancellation Policy
Registrants canceling their registrations prior to June 23 will receive refunds. All cancellations must be made in writing and will be subject to a 15 percent per person cancellation fee. The University of Memphis cancellation policy holds the ICFA responsible for room and board on all reservations. As a result, no refunds can be made on cancellations received after June 23.
