Earn CE Credits While You Learn
This year's ICFA Convention & Exposition offers funeral directors a chance to pick up
as many as 12 continuing education credits during the three-day educational program.
Monday is packed with educational sessions. The morning''s program will include in-depth reviews of two important studies, with Dee Allsop of Wirthlin Worldwide talking about the industry's latest study of consumer attitudes and Rachel Myers of The Forethought Group revealing a study of Internet use among the 45 to 70 age group. A half-hour spotlight on hot products will be followed by a two-hour lunch session in the Exhibit Hall.
Monday afternoon will focus on how to compete successfully in today's marketplace, with representatives of three independent funeral home companies as well as SCI discussing their experiences with branding, discounting and strip mall funeral homes. Another hot products session and an evening reception at the Trade Show round out a full day.
Tuesday is another full day. The morning will start with a debate between NFDA President John Carmon and ICFA Secretary Paul Elvig over expansion of the Funeral Rule, followed by top executives from SCI, Carriage and Stewart discussing the state of the industry. A three-hour brunch session at the Trade Show -- the final trade show session -- will follow. Tuesday afternoon will feature concurrent workshops on management, sales compensation, marketing and cemetery development.
Wednesday will feature a legal/legislative update, success stories from four independent funeral home and cemetery operators, and a rapid-fire session offering 30 sales ideas in 30 minutes. A tour of Palm Valley View Memorial Park is available in the afternoon before the closing reception and dinner dance.
Available CE credit for each session varies from state to state. For more information on specific credit available for your state, contact the ICFA meetings department at 1-800-645-7700, ext. 211 or 219.
